High Fuel Costs – Letter to the Editor

The Editor

The variance of over 100% between the basic fuel price and what consumers have to pay at the pumps needs to be addressed urgently.

With fuel prices at unbearable levels for the economy, the government must immediately utilise the vast storage facilities it has in Mossel Bay and elsewhere in order to stabilise the fuel price instead of letting these facilities to private companies and allowing them to fleece us.

The existing method of determining the fuel price is open to massive manipulation and corruption in government and needs to be reviewed.

We need to be adequately protected from the vagaries of the international financial and oil markets as well as other vested interests.

Salaams / Kind Regards
